Water Marbling Flower Pots for Mom (designed for adults)

Come join the fun and explore color. Make something special for your mom or bring her along to create beauty together.  This class is an introduction to the ancient art form of water marbling. Water marbling uses surface tension to balance paint on the surface of thickened water. 
 
What to expect: 
  • Class will be 2 hours.
  • Instructor will share a brief explanation of marbling, its history and uses.
  • Instructor will guide you through the basics of water marbling paper. Included will be marbling prep work using carrageenan, alum, marbling tools and paint required, as well as after care. 
  • You will experiment with a variety of patterns and paint applications. 
  • During this session you will experiment first with a variety of paper products. 
  • Once comfortable with A4 paper, you will begin marbling your very own set of terra cotta flower pots. Flowers for Mom will be included. You will also marble a note card for Mom. 
  • Cost is $45.00 per person. Registration and pay may be made through this listing online or in person at The Simple Life (address below). Sign-up soon before classes fill up. Space is limited. 
*Comfortable clothing and an apron are recommended as we will get messy, and we will be using acrylic paint. Some items may require that you pick them up later after they dry and have been treated with a clear finish. 
 
What you will need to bring to our workshop:
  • Pencil and notebook if you want to take notes.
  • Gloves if you are sensitive to acrylic paint or seaweed. You will get paint on your hands, but it will wash off easily. 
  • A large plastic bag will be provided to lay your artwork on in your car on the way home. 
  • Nonslip shoes are essential.
